EXPANDED COMPASSIONATE NEIGHBOURS SCHEME SEEKS NEW VOLUNTEERS
Brentor & Moor Compassionate Neighbours, A West Devon scheme established last year to help support individuals at home in our local communities who are suffering from a life-limiting illness or approaching the end of life, is looking to recruit more volunteers to enable it to cope with increased demand and an extended geographical area.
The scheme’s original intention was to serve the rural area to the north of Tavistock- but due to demand it has now expanded to cover Tavistock, Yelverton and surrounding district. Because of this, more volunteers are now being sought.
Anyone with two or three hours a week to spare and a genuine interest in helping this vulnerable group of people can apply- and of course those with a background in health or social care, or experience of looking after a loved one, will be most welcome. Full training, DBS checks etc, is given to our volunteers. The next training day is due to take place in mid-October, so applications are now being actively sought.
