A trip to Brentor church…whew! by Bronwyn Johnston

Covid
Click, click,
The turn of a key
Lockdown enshrouds us
Fevers the brain
Ck, ck , clickety click
But talking’s allowed
Forget those locked jaws
and ring out the phone
yack, yack, yackety yack
savour the emails
that fizz down the airwaves
dispelling depression,
raising the smiles
tap, tap,tapity tap
Lock in the laughter
lock out the gloom
lock up the virus
lock, stock and barrel
Click, yack, clickety tap
Savour the stillness
The lack of pollution
Freshness of birdsong
Breathe in the springtime
Embrace warmth of friendship
And lock in the love
Look to the future
Clickety, stoically……….Hope

Take Time
Breathe
take time
allow your thoughts
to hesitate
Breathe
take time
allow your thoughts
to marinate
Breathe
take time
allow your thoughts
to illuminate
Breathe
take time
allow your thoughts
permission
to escape

Are you using your stay at home to develop new domestic skills? I most certainly am – not very successfully. I am trying to make those nice patterns in coffee froth that baristas do, and failing. As you will see from the photo below, I simply end up with something looking like Donald Trump’s bottom (assuming he paints himself everywhere he can reach)

To start us off:” big rainbow pasted” maybe, Hilary?! You may or may not know , fellow Members, that some of the young children are walking around with an adult on these sunny evenings of home schooling counting the colourful rainbows in house windows in their locality. How much they must enjoy finding a new one! Can you help … without the right paint colours I m just sitting down making one using bits of cereal packets for the pretty colours. It s the thought that counts, isn t it … not the exact colours. However, there s another thing … how do you remember the colours? With the mnemonic: Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain like I do maybe for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and lastly violet if I ve got it right! I am thinking immediately of how I remembered the compass points: North East Shredded West with mnemonic Nick eats Shredded Wheat. There are so many more .. I used to have one to remember how to spell ‘because’ … I can t remember that now but I do know how to spell because … any more you can add maybe??
