This Land - CANCELLED

2:30 pm
24-09-2022

I am sorry to tell you that I have been informed that This Land, which some of us were due to attend this September at the Theatre Royal, has been cancelled. The explanation I received from the Theatre is as follows:

'In recent weeks we have explored, in depth, with the Wampanoag community and with the originating creative team, whether This Land is the right play for a changed world. We have reached a collective conclusion that the production as it was originally conceived is no longer the story we wish to tell. TRP and the Wampanoag community will instead embark on a new co-creation journey that will provide a platform for the Wampanoag to tell their stories in their own ways, presented with our support in Plymouth UK and in Massachusetts, USA.

Plans on how we do this are starting to be formed and we will be in touch to let you know full details in due course,'

Originally due to be shown in June 2020 This Land told the story of Mayflower's journey, its impact upon arrival in America and our collective experience of a global pandemic 400 years later. What happened then and what does it mean to us now? With text by Nick Stimson, the music written and performed by Seth Lakeman.
