    2:00 pm
    02-02-2022

Alan is retired and, amongst many other activities, is involved in Plymouth u3a as well as being leader of the Ford Park Cemetery Heritage Team.

    Of his talk he says:

"Looking around the city centre in Plymouth today, many of the names above the shop entrances are well known national, or even, international businesses. But as recently as 50 years ago the majority of retail outlets in the centre of Plymouth were local shops and stores, founded by entrepreneurs who had been born and brought up in the West Country. This illustrated talk looks at the history of some of those shops, including Pophams, Dingles, Spooners and John Yeo, and the people behind them.

THE TALK WILL BE PRECEDED WITH A BRIEF EGM DETAILS OF WHICH ARE LOCATED ON THE HOME PAGE
