Tavy District u3a is part of the wider family of u3a groups whose mantra is Learn Laugh and Live. There are no academic qualifications required to become a member.
U3A aims and objectives are to enhance the lives of people no longer working by providing a social network of those with similar interest. We do this through more than 50 Interest Groups providing educational, leisure and recreational activities for the benefit of members in Tavistock and the surrounding area. Groups are organised on a self help basis where we share knowledge and experience. Under normal circumstances we have good programme of social events and several active walking groups.
A message from our new Chair, Robin Neave
Following the Government guidelines of the Roadmap out of lockdown, the monthly face-to-face meetings of the Tavy District u3a that are normally held at the Town Hall remain cancelled until further notice. However, we will continue to hold them via Zoom on the first Wednesday of each month.
In addition to the normal monthly meeting, there is an additional one on March 24th at 2pm given by a representative of Devon and Cornwall Police about scamming. Members will be sent a link nearer the time.
Our website will carry updates and , as things progress, we will keep you informed as to when we can tentatively begin our groups once again.
In the meantime we are hoping to have some initiative in place for the National u3a Day on Wednesday 2nd June to raise our profile, contribute to the community and encourage new members. If you have any ideas, please let the committee know.
Please stay safe and we look forward to meeting you all in the not too distant future.
For and on behalf of the Committee of Tavy District u3a.
Robin Neave, Chair
Currently only those activities that can be conducted via zoom from the safety of our homes are feasible.
