Poetry 2

We generally choose a theme around which to base our discussion. Sometimes we look at a particular poet and have recently read poetry by such varied authors as WH Auden, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Elizabeth Bishop and the recent Nobel Prize winner Louise Gluck. On other occasions we have chosen a theme, for example “Sound” or “Journeys”. Sometimes we just bring along examples of our favourite poetry.

We are a friendly group with a range of poetry preferences and enjoy chatting over tea and refreshments about what we’ve read and the ideas inspired by our reading and by listening to the poems other members have brought along.
