This is a thriving group, with twenty members, who play descant, alto, tenor and bass recorders. The group plays a wide range of music ranging from Renaissance and Baroque to jazz and other contemporary music. Each session consists of a balance of playing known repertoire and trying new pieces. In recent years, the group has given a public performance at the Saint Eustachius Christmas Tree festival.
An annual fee of £30 is payable to meet venue costs and provision of new music. Some music is issued on loan without charge. In addition, new members will need to purchase a couple of books of music. In recognition of that expense, the first six months of the annual fee is waived for new members.
New members are welcome, providing they can read music. It would be particularly helpful if new members are willing to play treble, tenor or bass. Tuition can be arranged without charge for those who are new to the recorder or need a refresher.
